  • Waiting

The past two days have been challenging.  Noah is away in Peru on a Missions Trip with 14 other people from our church.  I know that he is where he is supposed to be - God has called him to this.  However, it is still hard to wait at home.  I know that Noah is ok physically, even though he has experienced his first earthquake (6.2) and his first violent strike in the streets.  He has been safe, thank the Lord.  What I don't know is how he felt amidst these events.  Is he doubting his call to missions because of this?  I'm praying that the Lord makes Noah's call stronger through this if missions is in the Lord's plan for Noah.

Mark and I were talking last night about my "mommy" feelings.  I know that I will struggle with these feelings every time Noah is abroad on the mission field.  Sunday, June 29th, was just one of many goodbyes to come.  Wednesday's news will be one of many episodes of which I will need to trust my Lord with my son's safety and feelings.  Noah believes that this mission trip will confirm his calling - this trip is also confirming my calling.  Being the mother of a missionary is a calling - an exercise of fully releasing your child into God's capable hands.

  • hello,
i just realized how ordinary my life is. i'm not complaining, no, i'm content.  it's just that it is pretty boring for the average person.  noah and i are still busy with school.  just coming off spring break.  it was a challenge this year since half of his friends were off last week and the other half this week.  we had half days most of last week and this week.  he was off from school on friday and monday to hang with friends.

i've had a hard time getting into anything concrete this week.  i've been in and out of the house.  that is probably why - no real blocks of time to accomplish anything.  the pellet stove stopped on sunday night.  a motor burned out.  we're praying and trying to decide if we want to fix it or if it is time to get a new one.  in the meantime we are using the wood furnace downstairs.  noah makes several trips to the back yard collecting wood.  mark and noah will spend some time tomorrow afternoon cutting wood so we can heat the house.  it is april and we're in the 30's - who would have thought we would continue to need heat.  it's great when we only have to heat at night, though we aren't there yet.  maybe in a week or two.

my parent's 50th wedding anniversary party is next month.  my mom is calling, asking my opinion.  i'm not sure if i am upsetting her when i continually agree.  i really do think her ideas are fine.  i'll be happy when it is over - i'm just not a great party planner/person.  i need to concentrate on finishing their present.  i have about a day left.  then i'll be scanning and scanning pictures for the slide show.  life is fun.

like i said, my life is pretty ordinary.  but i like it.  keep the Son in your eyes...debra

  • WOW it's been awhile

Happy New Year to you all!
I didn't realize that I hadn't updated my Xanga in so long.  Lots has happened since May.  Anke went home to Germany and Julia came for a two month visit.  Noah has grown more and more.  He towers over me now.  I was busy this fall making Christmas presents.  I decided to knit this year.  It gave me a change of pace.

I'll try to update my blog more often this year.  No promises though.  I pray that you all have a blessed New Year.  Keep the Son in your eyes...debra
